How to Prepare Your Home or Office for a Professional Carpet Clean

A bit of preparation before the team arrives means more time spent actually cleaning, and a smoother visit all round. Here's a practical checklist for getting a Dublin home or office ready, plus a few notes on access and parking that are worth thinking about ahead of time.

Before we arrive

Your preparation checklist

  1. 1

    Clear small items and breakables

Pick up toys, shoes, books, ornaments and anything loose on the floor or low shelves. Small breakables on side tables near the carpet are worth moving somewhere safer too.

  2. 2

    Let us know about furniture

Light furniture like dining chairs is easy to move out of the way ourselves. For anything heavier — wardrobes, bookcases, large sofas — let us know when you book so we can plan for it, or move what's reasonable to move on the day.

  3. 3

    Secure pets for the visit

A room with cleaning equipment and an unfamiliar visitor isn't a great environment for most pets. Keeping pets in a separate room, or out of the house if that's easier, keeps everyone calmer and out from under our feet.

  4. 4

    Think about parking and access

Many Dublin properties, especially terraced streets and permit-only areas, have limited or restricted parking. Let us know about permit parking, narrow access, apartment buzzers or stairs when you book, so we can plan the visit properly.

  5. 5

Clear a path to the rooms being cleaned

A clear route from the front door to the rooms we're working in helps us get equipment in and out efficiently, especially in narrower hallways.

  6. 6

    Note anything specific

A particular stain, a sensitive area, or anything you want extra attention on — flagging it before we start means it doesn't get missed.

On the day

What to expect once we're there

We'll do a quick walk-through of the rooms being cleaned, confirm what's included and answer any questions before starting. Hot water extraction equipment does mean some noise and a hose running from our van or unit to the rooms being cleaned, so it helps to have a route planned in — which is part of why access and parking matter. Once cleaning starts, we work room by room, taking care around furniture, skirting boards and finishes.

Before we leave, we'll give you a realistic drying time based on the carpet, the level of cleaning needed, and ventilation in the room, along with any simple tips to help it dry faster — like opening a window or keeping foot traffic light until it's ready.
